  • Children under 2 years of age: should not be allowed to play gadgets alone, including TVs, smartphones and tablets.
  • Children aged 2 to 4 years: less than an hour a day.
  • Age 5 and above : preferably no more than two hours a day for recreational use (beyond learning needs).

Schedule the right time to play the gadget. Beyond that, parents should also prepare other alternative activities so that children do not get bored and switch back to gadgets.

3. Don’t give a full access

Put a TV or a computer in the living room. So that every time the child uses it, he/she is not alone and still in the supervision of other family members. In addition, mobile devices should also not be left to the child completely. Let the child asks the permission first if he/she wants to use it, and take it back when it's done.

4. Set the free gadget areas

Make rules so that the child should not use the gadgets in certain places. For example: at the dinner table, in the bedroom, and in the car.

5. Teach the children about the importance of restraint

Be sure to give praise to the child when he/she manages to refrain from playing the game and following the rules.
